How To Know When A Guru Is Fake Blowing Smoke — & Only Out For The Money
And, Who’s Legitimately Trying To Help You Succeed | In 2022!
I read a story, here on Medium earlier today, and I felt like after I had started writing the comment — I needed to share the “moral of the story with you on my blog. The story I read was, “How I Never Earned Any Money After Creating 150+ Courses — Don’t Follow My Footsteps….” or something very similar to that, I’ll try and link it in this article.
Basically, she was saying that, don’t listen to those teaching on YouTube that all you gave to do is create a course to find success online… Because, she had created over 150+ courses and never did anything, money-wise!
Although she had many “reasons” why she never earned any money with the courses she was basically dancing around the main reason behind all of her “observations”…
Marketing. You Must Have MARKETING!
Driving traffic, it has to happen!
No matter, the business model you choose, you will always have to market that product or service.. When looking for the best business model to choose from, and asking which one will be the most successful, or which model will be successful, at all..
The question shouldn't be…. if “courses”, “affiliate marketing”, “dropshipping”, or “freelancing”… is going to be successful!
Why?
Because, we know those can be successful from the past (10K+ entrepreneurs before you who has proven that it can be successful.. with the right marketing.
Example:
Even if you have figured out the cure to cancer, and you’re now wanting to give it away… in exchange for an email address! So you have this revolutionary new-found product, and it’s 100% FREE…
Well, most people will tell you — “Oh man, you’re about to sell out — That product is so much better than so-and-so’s offer!!”
Normally, that would be true, but like with any product or service, that you have to offer…
You have to have a solid marketing strategy behind that offer or no one will know it exists!
So, let’s say you get your offer all packaged up and ready to go…
But...instead of getting a solid marketing plan together, you take your offer and you go sit up shop in the desert…
You’re going to come back in 3–4 days thirsty as hell and not one email address collected, or a sale, one! Obviously, it’s not because you didn’t have the right offer….
Hell, you have THE CURE TO CANCER, man!
I mean, you really wouldn’t HAVE to build much of a marketing plan, in place, before everyone would hear about this new product and would be fighting to get in contact with you to purchase!
But, again… obviously, you couldn’t be 300+ miles in the middle of the desert promoting your product, or you will be saying “The Cure To Cancer Was A Bad Product…, too!

All of your observations are correct.. But….
It all comes back to a main supporting factor that’s a must for ANY business model that you choose, traffic (the marketing) It doesn’t matter what model you choose, even creating courses!
People hear about making money online from some “course selling guru” (which ironically the guru is driving traffic (you) and doing what he should be teaching his “students” to do, actually doing “it” very well, usually) who promises the world.
He’ll (or, she’ll) never speaks about or tells us the easiest shortest steps to get there, they never go into detail about what that simple “step” really consist of.. they leave out everything it takes to get there, they merely say,
“…and then want to drive traffic to that (product or service), and…”
WHOA!
First, without moving one more step, the guru should spend more time right here… it’s MAJOR!
First, let’s talk about SEO, search engines, and how they work, in general. Let’s talk about algorithms and how they play an effect on your “traffic method strategy”..
Who’s going to make, edit, and publish all your video content (It’s 2022… I don’t care what course, or other product/service you’re trying to sell… it’s not happening without promoting that product using text form content, audio form content, and definitely video content!)
So, it’s not “what you choose to sell”….
It’s what formula you choose to follow once you do decide on whatever business model your heart desires! They just forget to mention all that, because well… that would scare too many away from what they’re trying to sell you!
I hope this made sense and that it helps even one person who’s just getting started and contemplating on what to do, or sell — if they should get started, how hard is it.
You need honesty right now, it’s actually a huge decision for anyone making the jump from a full-time career — to a new venture as their own online business!
